Kinesiology Treatments at Lessness Natural Health

What is Kinesiology?

Kinesiology is a safe, natural and gentle health assessment and treatment method, which is designed to provide the practitioner with information about the functioning of the bodies systems in terms of what is ‘stressing’ the body and what is needed to negate these ‘stressors’ and so improve the its functioning.

Kinesiology principles

Muscle Testing : Central to all Kinesiology methods is muscle testing. This enables practitioners to find out what is stressing the patient physiologically or psychologically and what is beneficial/needed. This is based on the premise that the body inherently knows what it needs and indeed what is ‘stressful’ for it, and so by muscle testing we can communicate with our own inherent subconscious intelligence.

Homeostasis :Another fundamental principle is that to be healthy we need to be in ‘balance’ on all levels. The principle of homeostasis (physiological balance) is well established in western medicine, but Kinesiology takes this further to include, mental / emotional balance, structural balance and balance in the meridian ‘energy’ systems used in Chinese Acupuncture principles (but in our case without having to use the needles !).

Thus the instinctive responses communicated through ‘muscle testing’ enable us to identify which are our individual areas of imbalance and precisely what is needed to correct these imbalances and the resulting debilitating patterns.

Treatment tailored the patients specific needs : By working with the whole person and allowing the body’s own responses to dictate the process, Kinesiology identified treatments stimulate the body’s capacity to heal itself.

Kinesiology derives from 2 major influences :
(1) Traditional Chinese Medicine acupuncture theory (but without the use of needles!)
(2) Chiropractic principles, but without the use of ‘cracking’ peoples vertebra.

What can Kinesiology assessment help us identify?

Kinesiology muscle testing enables the practitioner to identify pretty much whatever is ‘stressing’ the body including :

  • Physiological stressors (e.g. nutritional deficiencies, toxic excesses, lack of sleep etc)
  • Mental / emotional stresses (inc. fears/phobias etc)
  • Mechanical stresses (such as poor posture/residual effects of injuries etc).
  • electro-magnetic pollution stressors on your health

Kinesiology can help with chronic health problem such as:

  • Acne
  • Allergy
  • Anxiety
  • Arthritis
  • Back problems
  • Constipation
  • Chronic fatigue
  • Depression
  • Dermatitis / Eczema
  • Fibroids
  • Hypertension
  • IBS
  • Intolerances
  • Menopausal problems
  • Osteoporosis
  • PMT
  • Run down
  • Sleep problems
  • Stress

Kinesiology treatments methods include

What makes Kinesiology unique is that it enables us to identify specifically what the individual patient needs to re-establish a more ideal homeostasis and so bring about changes in terms of biochemical, structural, mental/emotional and energetic ‘balance’. This is achieved by selecting from a range of techniques including specialised ‘massage’/ tapping techniques involving reflex and acupressure points or via selection of an appropriate Homoeopathic remedy or Nutritional supplements, herbs or which foods one is sensitive to and are best avoided. Also to enable even more progress, stress reduction exercises are given for homework between sessions.

The results are profoundly effective and can include pain relief, postural improvement, release of stress, reduction of tension, identification and treatment of allergies/sensitivities, improved digestion, increased energy, better co-ordination, decreased anxiety/depression, improved sleep, etc.

N.B.

Like all Complementary Medicine methods, Kinesiology is not meant to replace conventional western medical diagnostic methods, but rather to work with it in a supportive and indeed ‘complementary’ way. This allows the patient to get the best of both worlds by ideally providing an integrated picture as to what is happening.

Whilst Kinesiology really is safe and gentle, nevertheless it is very important that before testing commences you tell the practitioner of any health problems particularly regarding muscle or joint problems/weaknesses/current or former injuries. This is because the tests involve placing the limbs in slightly awkward positions in order to isolate specific muscles and thus assess the status of particular meridians. If you have a problem with a particular joint or muscle, we will not test this specific muscle provided you tell us before hand, but you must tell us if there is a problem before the testing begins. Similarly it is important to breathe normally during testing. Do not hold your breath.
